Travis Kelce gets personal and reveals his favourite position
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end bares it all as he admits what his preferred position is.
Travis Kelce has revealed his favourite position in the NFL.
Wait, what? You were thinking what? You should be ashamed of yourself.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end has opened up and discussed what position he wanted to play when he was a little Kelce, running around and dreaming of rising up and becoming a star in the NFL.
Speaking to Chiefs media ahead of the AFC Conference final, Kelce admitted that Bills quarterback Josh Allen was his idol when he was younger.
'I never had the arm talent so they kicked me over to tight end'
“Josh is who I used to dream of being like in the NFL,” Kelce revealed on Friday. “Big, athletic quarterback, big arm, being able to be a dual-threat guy. I just never had the arm talent that Josh has, so they kicked me over to tight end.”
“His ability to do everything -- you can tell, he really took the bull by the horns and been their leader up front, and channeled that,” Kelce said. “Guys come in and out of the building and he’s the main guy that makes them go, week in, week out. I have so much respect for that guy.”
Allen is not a bad player to look up to. In 2024, Allen has thrown for 3,731 yards with a 28:6 touchdown-to-interception ratio and a 101.4 passer rating. He’s also managed 531 rushing yards and 12 rushing scores as he has led Buffalo to 13 wins for the third time in his career.
On the final itself, Kelce admitted that he was “excited for the challenges I get in this game. I’m very appreciative of the opportunities that I have and this is one of the biggest challenges we’ve ever had. So, I’m excited at attacking that.”
Travis Kelce looking to extend superb record
As a tight end, it must be said, hasn’t gone too badly for Kelce. Over his career, he has filled his resumé with ten-time Pro Bowl selections and seven-time All-Pros.
He holds multiple NFL records, including the most consecutive and most overall seasons with 1,000 receiving yards by a tight end, with seven and in 2020 he managed the most receiving yards by a tight end in a single season with 1,416. Oh, and he has 3 Super Bowl trophies (LIV, LVII, LVIII), just in case you forgot.
