Travis Kelce returning to Chiefs for what could be his final season
The Kansas City Chiefs are making it known that their star tight end is not up for sale for other NFL teams.

Star tight end Travis Kelce isn’t just planning to keep playing. He’s expected to keep doing it in Kansas City.
The future Hall of Famer is expected to return to the Kansas City Chiefs for a 14th NFL season, according to NFL Media, with word reportedly being passed along to teams that might have been interested in pursuing him if he became available.

Kelce had been weighing his future after the 2025 season, leading to speculation that retirement, or even a move to another team, could be possible. Instead, the expectation now is that he’ll remain exactly where he’s spent his entire career.

Kelce still a key part of the Chiefs’ offense
Even at 36 years old, Kelce remains one of the most productive tight ends in football and a centerpiece of Kansas City’s offense. During the 2025 season, he caught 76 passes for 851 yards and five touchdowns, continuing to serve as one of the most reliable targets for quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
The connection between Mahomes and Kelce has defined the Chiefs’ offense for nearly a decade, and Kansas City currently doesn’t have another player on the roster capable of replacing that production.
Travis Kelce would have commanded top dollar in the TE market. But he'd rather stay with the #Chiefs, catch passes from Patrick Mahomes, and have a shot at another Super Bowl. https://t.co/QtWM6pbsNO

While Kelce hasn’t officially declared the 2026 season will be his last, many around the league believe it could be his final year in the NFL. If that ends up being the case, his decision ensures the Chiefs will get one more season with one of the greatest tight ends in league history, and another chance to chase a Super Bowl with Mahomes leading the offense. Kansas City’s most trusted weapon isn’t going anywhere just yet.
