Travis Kelce tells hilarious story about phone going off in team meeting: “I go out the door and f***ing chuck it as far as I can”
The Kansas City Chiefs star revealed how he deals with cell phones at the team practice facility.

The Kansas City Chiefs begin their 2025 training camp this week at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph.
For tight end Travis Kelce, this is his 13th preseason with the Chiefs and he has learnt a lot along the way. The three-time Super Bowl champion has spent his entire NFL career with the Chiefs, joining at the same time as legendary head coach Andy Reid.
Speaking on his ‘New Heights’ podcast this week, Kelce revealed one time that he nearly fell foul of Coach Reid at a team training camp and the lengths that he went to in an attempt to hide it.
During the podcast record, Travis Kelce’s phone went off. Brother Jason asked, “Hopefully you have that on mute when you’re at training camp, Travis?”
In response, Travis revealed the story of a time that his phone did go off during a team meeting with the Chiefs.
“Dude there was one time at training camp when my phone went off at training camp, and there used to be this really obnoxious screaming sound of R2D2 from Star Wars, I don’t know if you remember this alarm?”
Jason said that he did and Travis explained that he is a deep sleeper so made sure to have a loud alarm tone with a piercing, high-pitched noise.
He continued: “It was literally the most annoying thing in the world. And it went off in a team meeting and coach Reid is the one talking... I was trying to stop it and it just wouldn’t stop, so I get up in the middle of the team meeting room, go down the aisle, out the door and f***ing chuck it as far as I can."
“And then I just walked back to the seat like, ‘Don’t look at him, don’t look at him’ ... I think I heard him chuckle."
That is one of the more extreme reactions to an unwanted phone call but it seems to have earned Travis Kelce the respect of both Reid and his brother. Jason agreed that he had done well to prove his commitment to the team, albeit in quite a dramatic way.
