Update:

U.S. President Donald Trump made an appearance at the Week 10 matchup between the Detroit Lions and the Washington Commanders at Northwest Stadium. His presence was acknowledged on the stadium’s big screens, but the reaction from the crowd was mixed - some fans responded with noticeable boos during the NFC showdown.

Trump watched the game from the Commanders’ owners’ suite. He was joined by Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, though the high-profile company didn’t shield him from the crowd’s disapproval.

The boos grew louder during halftime, when Trump took part in the NFL’s Salute to Service initiative. As part of the ceremony, he led a military-style oath for service members in attendance. The crowd noise was so intense that Trump had to pause several times while reading the pledge.

This marked just the third time a sitting U.S. president has attended a regular-season NFL game. The first was Richard Nixon in 1969, who watched a Cowboys-Redskins clash. Jimmy Carter followed in 1978, also attending a game between those same NFC East rivals.

St. Brown channels Trump in TD celebration

Trump arrived late to the game and missed a moment that seemed tailor-made for him. Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown scored the game’s opening touchdown on a 14-yard pass from Jared Goff - and celebrated with a dance that mimicked Trump’s signature moves.

The “Trump Dance” became a viral sensation in 2024, with several NFL players, including Calvin Ridley and Nick Bosa, incorporating it into their celebrations. The trend even crossed over into soccer, where U.S. Men’s National Team star Christian Pulisic pulled off the move after scoring.
