SUPER BOWL 2024
What are the highest and lowest scores in Super Bowl history?
There is quite a big difference between the lowest and the highest scores ever recorded in Super Bowl history. Let’s look at them and when those games were played.
During the 57 Super Bowl games that have taken place since the championship started in 1967, we have seen all kinds of contests, outcomes and scorelines. Epic games such as the Patriots vs Falcons in 2017 that ended with Tom Brady securing victory in overtime or the Steelers clash with the Cowboys in 1979 that confirmed the dynasty of the Pittsburgh team and its Steel Curtain. At the other end of the scale, there have also been underwhelming games which have delivered little or no emotion - like the Seahawks vs Broncos from 2013 that ended up being a blowout for the team from Denver.
Super Bowl LV between the Buccaneers and the Kansas City Chiefs in 2021 ended 31-9, with Tom Brady bringing home his seventh championship ring. There have been a number of games both with a very high or a very low score. Matches that have become part of NFL and Super Bowl history.
What is the lowest score in Super Bowl history?
The relatively recent New England Patriots vs Los Angeles Rams at Super Bowl LIII in 2019 is the one with the lowest score in the history of the NFL. The game that defined the champion of the 2018 season ended up with a paltry 13-3 result favorable to the Patriots after deploying a defensive strategy that nullified the offensive efforts of the Californian team.
It ended as the last Super Bowl won by Tom Brady. There were just three field goals and one touchdown during the whole game which was a bit of an anticlimax for viewers who had been expecting much more from the showpiece event.
