What did Deion Sanders say about coaching for the Cowboys?

There has been plenty of interest in Cowboys legend Deion Sanders to be the next head coach of the team, and he’s shared his response on that possibility.

As the Dallas Cowboys' season continues to crumble, head coach Mike McCarthy’s seat gets hotter. McCarthy was already in trouble after a playoff loss in the first round last season took his postseason record to 1-3. He is now in the final year of his contract and likely coaching his last season in Dallas. Now, everyone is speculating on who could replace him.

The offseason gossip mostly focused on former Patriots coach Bill Belichick as a potential replacement, but suddenly, there’s interest in a new potential candidate - NFL legend Deion Sanders.

Deion Sanders' response to coaching for Cowboys

Deion Sanders played for the Cowboys as a cornerback from 1995-2000, winning a Super Bowl with the team in his first season. Now, he’s the Colorado Buffaloes football coach.

In his second season with the Buffaloes this year, Sanders has led them to a 7-2 start and No. 2 in the Big 12, their most successful run in recent history. A shot to coach in the NFL (something he has not yet done) though, might intrigue him.

However, when former Cowboys legend and teammate of Sanders', Michael Irvin, asked him about the possibility, Sanders seemed uninterested. Irvin told him he’s “encouraging people to be better than they really are” in Colorado and mentioned that Dallas could use that kind of encouragement too.

Sanders responded with a laugh, “Oh Lord, don’t start that!” He then repeated, “I love it where I am, I love it where I am” while pointing his laptop’s camera out towards the football field in the mountains.

Maybe he loves it for now, but we can only hope that by the end of the season, the intrigue of head coaching in the big league and making a return to his old stomping grounds might win him over.
