It is often said that the Super Bowl halftime show is the most expensive piece of advertising real estate in the world. With hundreds of millions of people watching all around the world it’s a very lucrative spot for brands looking to boost their image.

This year the most expensive slot of television will be filled with one of the richest people in entertainment as Rihanna takes the stage at Super Bowl LVII.

Rihanna is one of the world’s few self-made female billionaires and has racked up a net worth of $1.4 billion. This makes her the richest musician in the world and the second richest female entertainer after Oprah Winfrey.

But while everyone knows Rihanna as a musician, and she has had some success in the film industry, the biggest source of her wealth actually comes from her business ventures.

How much has Rihanna made from Fenty beauty?

In 2017 Rihanna released the first products from her makeup brand, Fenty, and it has been a massive success. The singer focused on providing a broad range of colours to suit a variety of skin tones and complexions.

In 2020 alone the Fenty beauty line managed an incredible $550 million in sales and Rihanna owns a 50% stake in the company. The name is taken from Rihanna’s own real name – Robyn Fenty – and her co-owner is French luxury brand LVMH, owner of Louis Vuitton.

Alongside that success Rihanna also has a 30% stake in the brand’s Savage x Fenty lingerie line. The brand was given a $1 billion valuation n February 2021 and its value has risen since.

Of course, music remains a key part of her extraordinary wealth and the singer is one of the most commercially successful artists of all time. Despite having not released a studio album since 2016, last year Rihanna extended her position as the best-selling female artist of the digital era.

Her single ‘Umbrella’ has been certified 8x Platinum (8 million US sales), while ‘Disturbia’ has reached the status of 7x Platinum (7 million US sales). Her total number of digital sales sits at 155 million, behind only Eminem (166 million) and Drake (164 million) in the all-time digital charts.
