What is the new name of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ stadium?

The Pittsburgh Steelers changed the name of their home stadium after being called Heinz Field for 20 years.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have called their home stadium Heinz Field for the past 20 years after the famous ketchup brand, but that changed last year.

The organization reportedly failed to come to a new agreement with Heinz, and so looked to other companies to become their sponsor.

In 2022, the Steelers announced that they had come to an agreement with an insurance company based in Michigan whose name doesn’t have quite the same ring to it as the iconic condiment brand did.

Long-term deal with Acrisure

The team’s home is now called Acrisure Stadium for the next 15 years.

“We are very excited to partner with Acrisure for the naming rights to our stadium,” according to Steelers president Art Rooney.

“Acrisure provided us with an opportunity to ensure our stadium continues to be a valuable asset for our fans as well as keeping up with the market value of NFL stadiums,” he said.

Acrisure is a fintech company headed by Greg Williams, a reported lifelong Steelers fan.

Heinz no more, effective immediately

The name change took effect at the start of the 2022 NFL season. It marked the end of an era, as the stadium had gone by the name Heinz Field since it opened in August 2001 with ketchup bottles over it.

The condiment company released a statement after the renaming, saying that although they could not shell out the amount that Acrisure could provide for the naming rights, they would continue to be a sponsor for the team.

Initial reactions from fans have shown they are not happy with the new name.
