What was Rihanna’s set list in her Super Bowl LVII halftime show?

Expectations for the Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show are very high - especially as the main act has not performed live in over five years. Rihanna said she even surprised herself by agreeing to provide the musical interlude at Super Bowl LVII. “I can’t believe I even said yes,” she told ET last week. “Y’know, it was one of those things that even when I announced it, I was like, ‘OK, I can’t take it back’. Now, it’s like final. I can’t believe, what did I just get myself into because the Super Bowl is one of the biggest stages in the world. Its’ an entertainer’s dream to be on a stage like that”.

The 2023 Super Bowl Halftime Show will be Rihanna’s first public performance since December 2017 when she treated the public to a brief four-song show at the 4th Annual Holiday Concert and Toy Drive Giveaway in Watts, Los Angeles. On that occasion, she performed LOYALTY, L.E.M.O.N., Wild thoughts and Bitch better have my money. At State Farm Stadium on Sunday, she is likely to delve into her back catalogue of more well-known hits.

That won’t be an easy task for the artist, as she will have be selective about what songs she includes considering she will have to stay withing a strict running order and not run one second over her scheduled 13-minute slot.

In a press conference with Apple Music, RiRi opened up about all the hard work she’s put into her first live performance in seven years. “That was the hardest part, deciding how to maximize 13 minutes [...] You’re trying to cram 17 years of work into 13 minutes … but I think we did a good job of reducing it,” said the singer.

Rihanna also revealed that deciding on which of her hits she will perform and in what order has been difficult to make firm decision on. “We are on our 39th setlist... Every little change counts, whether you want to cut a guitar, mute something, add something, or just put a whole new song in or take a whole song out,” she said.

RiRi may even decide to invite her boyfriend and father of her son A$AP Rocky. After being asked about it by TMZ in October, the singer replied: “ Maybe.”
