The New England Patriots rewrote what it means to have a hero’s welcome when they inducted legendary figure Tom Brady into the NFL Hall of Fame on Wednesday 12 June 2024.

Brady was surrounded by former teammates, coaches and legends in the game when he was made a permanent member of the club reserved for those who have left their indelible mark on the game in the States.

Chants of ‘Brady! Brady!’ came from the capacity crowd in Foxborough and the player, at the front with tears in his eyes, initially found it tough to find a second to begin his speech.

Which players were present at Tom Brady’s Hall of Fame induction?

Another big man, John Cena, got the ceremony underway with a moving video, right before Drew Bledsoe jokingly called his former teammate “the worst backup” he ever had.

But soon, the compliments were flying in; as well as Bledsoe, all of Ty Law, Mike Vrabel, Richard Seymour, John Hannah and Matt Light shared their stories on Brady’s career.

Rob Gronkowski, Wes Welker, Julian Edelman, Randy Moss, Willie McGinest, Devin McCourty, Vince Wilfork and Matt Cassell were all present. To top it all off, Bill Belichick showed up, and comfortably received the biggest standing ovation of the night.

When will the Tom Brady statue be unveiled?

In a franchise first, Patriots owner Robert Kraft announced that a 12-foot statue of Brady will be erected outside the Patriots Hall of Fame during the upcoming season. As of yet, Patriots fans, there is no news of exactly when the statue will be erected and unveiled, with some time in the 2024 NFL season being the only estimate we have.

“(The statue) will stand alone in the plaza outside of the Hall of Fame to symbolise his position, not as the greatest in franchise history, but as the greatest in all of NFL history,” Kraft said.

Another way the Patriots will honour Brady is by retiring his famous shirt number, 12, which will not be worn by any other player on any future occasion for the franchise.

Brady is the all-time leader in passing yards, passing touchdowns, and Super Bowl wins. He was also named NFL MVP thrice (2007, 2010, and 2017) and selected twice as the Offensive Player of the Year (2007 and 2010).
