COWBOYS
Where does Cowboys’ Micah Parsons rank in PFF’s 50 best NFL players?
Dallas Cowboys’ star edge rusher Micah Parsons has been named as one of the top 10 players in the entire league on Pro Football Focus’ list of top 50.
Micah Parsons was the 12th overall pick by the Dallas Cowboys in the 2021 NFL Draft and he’s been one of the best decisions they ever made. In his rookie season, he won Defensive Rookie of the Year. Since then, in his three seasons in the NFL, he’s racked up 213 tackles, 40.5 sacks, 89 quarterback hits, 51 tackles for loss, 131 pressures, and seven forced fumbles. He does all this while very often being double and even triple-teamed. He’s also been named an All-Pro and Pro-Bowler in all three seasons and finished in the top three in voting for Defensive Player of the Year the last three years in a row.
Where did PFF rank Parsons in their 50 best NFL players list?
Pro Football Focus released their top 50 best NFL players list, based on “a combination of past performance, future potential, and overall impact on the game.” Only two Cowboys made it on the list, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb at number 20 and Micah Parsons at number five.
PFF notes that Parsons is just the fourth player in the PFF era to record 100+ pressures in a single season with 103 in 2023. Here’s what they said about Dallas’ star defender:
“He is one of the most dynamic and explosive pass-rushers the game has ever seen, and he played the purest pass-rushing role of his career so far this past year.”
Of the four players ranked above Parsons, only one is an edge rusher - Cleveland Browns’ Myles Garrett at number two. The others ahead of him are Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes (1), San Francisco 49ers tackle Trent Williams (3), and Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson (4).
