Who should I start in Fantasy Football? NFL Week 7 roster recommendations by position
Injuries, matchups, and rivalries all play a part in deciding who to start in fantasy each week. Here are the top picks at each position for Week 7.
This week in the NFL brought significant injuries, particularly at wide receiver, with Puka Nacua, Garrett Wilson, Emeka Egbuka, Marvin Harrison Jr., and Calvin Ridley all sidelined. The Buccaneers are hit especially hard, potentially missing four receivers.
Backup running backs continued to shine, highlighted by another 200-yard performance from Rico Dowdle, as well as strong outings from Cam Skattebo, Kimani Vidal, Rachaad White, and Bam Knight, reinforcing the value of locking down backups over extra pass-catchers or quarterbacks.
Before we get into our picks to start this week, there are a few things to note as we head into Week 7. With only two teams on a bye this week but six out in Week 8, now is the time to secure replacements to avoid bidding wars. The schedule is unusual, including an early London game and late Monday night matchups, so check player statuses carefully.
Now let’s get into the players you should consider starting in Week 7 at each position.
NFL Fantasy Football Week 7 Start ‘Ems
Quarterbacks
Jayden Daniels (Commanders) @ Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys’ defense is struggling across the board, and virtually no quarterback has trouble against them. Plus, Daniels has history here. In his lone full game against Dallas last season, he threw for 275 yards and two scores, even with Micah Parsons on the field. After a rough outing against the Bears last week, he’s poised to rebound.
Aaron Rodgers (Pittsburgh Steelers) @ Cincinnati Bengals
Cincinnati’s secondary has allowed the second-most passing yards to opposing quarterbacks this season. On top of that, Trey Hendrickson may miss this game, leaving the Bengals with one of the league’s lowest pass-rush pressures. Rodgers has been lights out with a 123.7 passer rating, 824 yards, nine touchdowns, and only one interception in clean pockets this year.
Running Backs
Jaylen Warren (Pittsburgh Steelers) @ Cincinnati Bengals
Warren hasn’t dominated fantasy rankings yet, but his underlying numbers are solid - second in yards after contact (84) and tied for tenth in broken tackles (10). With Cincinnati’s defense giving up the most points to RBs and ranking bottom-five in rushing yards allowed, Warren could thrive. After a quiet Week 6, expect him to bounce back big on Thursday night.
Quinshon Judkins (Cleveland Browns) vs Dolphins
Miami has struggled to stop the run, giving up 806 rushing yards to RBs so far this season. Judkins, averaging nearly 19 touches per game, could take full advantage of this matchup, similar to recent performances by other backup RBs.
Wide Receivers
Courtland Sutton (Denver Broncos) vs New York Giants
Sutton has had a few standout games despite a slow start, including a WR2-level performance in Week 3. This week’s matchup is ideal for him, as the Giants have given up 41.8 fantasy points per game to wide receivers. Sutton has the skills and the matchup to finally put together a monster performance.
Tez Johnson (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) vs Detroit Lions
Injuries to Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Emeka Egbuka could thrust Johnson into a larger role this week. He scored a 45-yard touchdown recently and faces a depleted Lions secondary. If he sees volume, a breakout performance is possible on Monday night.
Tight Ends
Jake Ferguson (Dallas Cowboys) vs Commanders
Ferguson has been consistent since Week 1, averaging 10 fantasy points per game and ranking TE3. The Commanders struggle against tight ends, allowing 16.3 points per game. In a division matchup at home, Ferguson could have a breakout performance.
Darnell Washington (Pittsburgh Steelers) @ Cincinnati Bengals
Washington is quietly emerging as Pittsburgh’s TE1, hauling in six catches for 82 yards over the past two games. With Cincinnati’s porous defense, he could join teammate Jaylen Warren in torching the Bengals.
