COWBOYS

Why Cowboys WR Brandin Cooks should be your fantasy waiver pick for Week 2

Obviously Cowboys receiver CeeDee Lamb was on everyone’s radar, but that means Brandin Cooks went undrafted in the majority of fantasy football leagues.

Obviously, I don’t expect it to be the norm that Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Brandin Cooks will outscore CeeDee Lamb in fantasy football points. But if you’re like most people and Lamb is no longer an option for you in your league, then Cooks may not be a bad one to have on reserve either.

Why Cooks should be on your fantasy roster

After missing all of training camp with the Cowboys, Lamb finally got the contract extension he was waiting for and returned to practice just ahead of the season opener. Make no mistake - Lamb’s still as fit as ever and still the No. 1 Cowboys receiver. However, while he was away, Brandin Cooks and quarterback Dak Prescott got a chance to work on their chemistry and it showed in their season opener.

When the Cowboys played the Browns in Cleveland on Sunday, Cooks caught Prescott’s only touchdown pass and added four other catches on seven targets for 40 yards against a difficult Browns defense in their 33-17 victory.

Now that Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson is dealing with a knee injury, Cooks is the clear No. 2 target in Dallas’ passing offense. That plus the fact that opposing defenses will be set on trying to cover Lamb make Cooks a nice weekly flex player. According to Fantasy Pros, Cooks was only drafted in 32% of leagues, so take advantage and snatch him up in Week 2.
