Why isn’t A.J. Brown playing for the Eagles against the Saints? NFL Week 3 injury status

A hamstring injury is set to keep Brown out of action for a couple of weeks, say reports.

The Philadelphia Eagles confirmed through the week that A.J. Brown would not feature for the side when they go up against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.

The three-time pro bowler himself told ESPN that he expects to miss “a couple weeks” with a hamstring injury, quite the change from the words of his coach, Sirianni, who said a few days earlier that “we’ve got some time. We’ll see how today goes. We’ve got today, we’ve got a little bit of tomorrow, and obviously, Sunday before we have to make that decision.”

The 27-year-old’s name first appeared on the injury report published last Friday after having hamstring problems during a training session. Brown then missed Saturday’s practice before being officially ruled out of the game in Philadelphia.

Brown hauled in 106 balls for 1,456 yards (85.6 per game) last year, a team-high amongst the current Eagles squad. He also managed to score seven TDs. In the first game of the season, a win over the Green Bay Packers, he had 5 catches for 119 receiving yards. He missed out on Week 2 action due to the niggling physical issue that has now gotten slightly worse.

The test for the Eagles is huge against the Saints, who look like the hottest team in the game as things stand. They crushed the Cowboys 19-44 after defeating the Panthers 47-10 on opening week. Another win for the New Orleans side would further increase expectations for them this season and perhaps start to put the pressure on the Eagles to claw back a positive spin on their early season record.
