Why isn’t Morgan Moses playing for the Jets against the Vikings in London? NFL Week 5 injury status

The veteran right tackle picked up an injury in the 24-3 win over New England in Week 3. Moses was not placed on injured reserve but has not traveled to London.

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in north London welcomes the New York Jets and Minnesota Vikings for their Week 5 matchup - the second NFL game to be played outside of the United States as part of this season’s international series.

The Jets are 2-2 with mixed results so far. Robert Saleh’s men lost the opening weekend game to the 49ers then securing their first victory the following week on the road in Tennessee. They made short work of New England’s visit to East Rutherford in Week 3, beating the visitors 24-3 but crashed to another loss the last time out, edged by the Broncos in heavy rain last Sunday.

The Jets with few injury concerns

Three names appear on the Jets’ injury report: linebacker CJ Mosley is listed as doubtful after subbing his toe in the Week 2 game against the Titans. Jamien Sherwood has stepped up while he is out. Leki Fotu started the campaign on injury reserve after suffering a hamstring injury during the preseason. His status is also doubtful.

Saleh gave an update on Alijah Vera-Tucker’s recovery from an ankle injury and Mosley in his pre-match press briefing: “AVT’s good, he’ll be a full participant so will Tyron [Smith], we gave him an extra rest day so he’ll be full today”.

Not so lucky is veteran right tackle Morgan Moses who hurt his knee in the Week 3 win over New England and is ruled out. What initially appeared to be a serious injury turned out to be less severe. “Morgan’s gonna be a couple games, but obviously not enough to put him on IR,” Saleh explained. “He’s just dealing with a knee.”

If everything goes to plan, Moses could return for the next game against the Bills on Monday 15th. In the meantime, rookie first-round pick Olu Fashanu has been drafted in as cover.
