The Chicago Bears are grappling with a six-game losing streak as well as a recent coaching change. Now, as they prepare to face the San Francisco 49ers, the availability of key players, including running back D’Andre Swift, is uncertain.

Swift decision still required for 49ers

Interim head coach Thomas Brown, who stepped up after Matt Eberflus’s dismissal, is navigating a roster riddled with injuries. Swift and wide receiver DJ Moore are both nursing quad injuries. They missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday but returned in a limited capacity on Friday. Their status for Sunday’s game remains questionable.

Brown expressed cautious optimism, stating, “They ran around today and looked pretty good. We’ll see how the next couple of days go and what happens on game day.” He noted that both players participated in a few plays per period during Friday’s practice to ease them back into action.

Who will replace Swift for Bears?

The Bears' injury woes extend beyond Swift and Moore. Running back Roschon Johnson (concussion), offensive lineman Ryan Bates (concussion), and safety Elijah Hicks (ankle) have been ruled out for Sunday’s game. If Swift is unable to play, Travis Homer is expected to start, with newly signed Demetric Felton Jr. likely being elevated to the active roster.
