Will J.K. Dobbins play for the Chargers against the Texans in the Wild Card game?
The running back was limited in last week’s practices. We look at his chances of starting tonight’s game in Houston.
J.K. Dobbins’ fitness is the the big question mark for Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh heading into this evening’s wild card game against the Texans.
Dobbins suffered an ankle injury in the Week 18 win against the Raiders and his status for the playoffs has been up in the air ever since.
The running back was listed as questionable on the Chargers' injury report at the start of the week and was a limited practice participant in all three sessions from Tuesday to Thursday. That however, may just have been a precaution as behind the scenes, there is hope that Dobbins will be deemed fit to play.
Dobbins' knee and ankle injuries
The 26-year-old missed four regular season games after spraining his medial collateral ligament in the 30-23 defeat to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 12. He returned for the final two games, ending the first part of the campaign rushing for a career-high 905 yards, with 195 rushing attempts and nine touchdowns in 13 appearances.
Harbaugh’s alternative RB Gus Edwards has been recovering from an ankle injury and was limited on Wednesday and Thursday but back to full practice on Friday. Hassan Haskins and Kimani Vidal are the coach’s other options if Dobbins doesn’t make it.
