Will RB Bucky Irving play for the Buccaneers against the Seahawks in Week 5?
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have suffered a major injury setback after the running back was seen wearing a boot on his left foot.
Despite making a strong start to the 2025 NFL season there is major concern for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after an injury to running back Bucky Irving.
Irving was seen at the team facility on Wednesday with a boot on his left foot, according to one report from Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times. Head coach Todd Bowles had previously revealed that Irving is dealing with an injury but had been tight-lipped on the exact details.
On Wednesday ESPN’s Adam Schefter added further information, explaining that Irving is now a doubt for the upcoming Week 5 game against the Seattle Seahawks.
“Bucs RB Bucky Irving is dealing with a foot sprain, per source. He was spotted today at practice on crutches and in a walking boot,” Schefter wrote. “Buccaneers do not fear Bucky Irving’s foot sprain is a long-term injury, per source. The team considers it a week-to week-injury.”
Inspired by Irving’s form, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are off to one of their best starts in years. They opened 3–0 with tight wins against Atlanta, Houston and the Jets, setting up a real test against the defending champion Eagles.
Tampa Bay led against Philadelphia with strong drives from Baker Mayfield and made a 65-yard field goal, the longest outdoor kick in NFL history. However a sloppy first half, turnovers and a late error forced them to settle for a 31–25 loss.
Even with that setback the Bucs remain atop the NFC South and the mood in Tampa is cautiously optimistic. They’re proving they can win tight games while showing flashes of big-play potential. If they can remove some of their sloppiness and protect the ball better, this squad has a high ceiling.
