Xavier Worthy injury update: Will the Chiefs’ WR be able to play against the Eagles on Sunday?
The Kansas City Chiefs may have to do without Xavier Worthy during their game at the weekend.

Travis Kelce may be loving life away from the field, but on it, things haven’t gone so well lately. The Kansas City Chiefs slumped to a sorry defeat against the Los Angeles Chargers in Brazil, losing 27-21 at Corinthians Field.
And that wasn’t even the worst part of the trip: Kelce was the culprit behind some friendly fire as he clashed with teammate Xavier Worthy.
Of course, the tight end spoke about the moment of madness on his New Heights podcast, where he detailed his emotions regarding the collision: “I wasn’t ready that first drive, I ran into one of my guys and offed him out of the game,” Kelce said about bumping into Worthy. “I literally took one of my players out. That’s one of the most frustrating parts. It’s hard to get your juices back going knowing that you just hurt a guy.”

"I’m supposed to be running my route at depth for Worthy. So, it’s frustrating for me… I just gotta be better, man. I’m 13 years in the league. There is no excuse for me running into my own guys like that..."

Kelce also expressed a huge amount of frustration with himself, admitting that it was a stupid mistake to make the run — less than two minutes into the game — that saw him take out the Chiefs’ fastest receiver.
“I’m supposed to be running my route at depth for Worthy, so it’s frustrating for me. I was trying to kind of set up my guy to be able to get in a position and it all just happened pretty quick. And I just got to be better man,” Kelce added. “I’m 13 years in the league. There’s no excuse for me running into my own guys like that. Worthy has his guy beat and we’re out the gate, and that game starts completely different.”
“That’s someone that’s a huge part of our game plan,” Mahomes said of Worthy after the game. “He’s someone that we’re counting on to go make plays against some of the man coverages that they played. I thought guys did a good job stepping up in those roles, but you could tell it took us a little bit to get going.”
Worthy is a huge asset to the Chiefs, and his shoulder injury that was later confirmed comes as a huge blow to the roster at such an early point in the season.
At this point in time, all we’ve got on Worthy’s fitness is what Kelce said on his recovery: “I’m not sure where he’s at health-wise, but I’m hoping that we get him back as fast as possible because he means so much to this team ... I can see that guy and how hard he works, and I can see his game getting better and I know he’s going to take the league by storm when he gets back,” Kelce said.
Sorry, Xavier, this was supposed to be a piece on you. But with Kelce being so open on the matter, we had to take it this way. If he gets any more emotional he might write an album about you.
