2024 Olympics in Paris: USA swimming: medal tally, winners and records

At the conclusion of this swimming Olympic cycle, the management of Team USA should be pleased with their performance at the Paris Olympic Games.

In the notoriously slow pool of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games swimming competitions, Team USA once again demonstrated their domination by winning the most medals and topping the medal table with 25 medals. However, Team Australia may still hold the advantage in the number of gold medals, with 7 golds (16 in total) compared to the 6 golds won by the American swimmers.

Katie Ledecky opened the medal account for Team USA on the first day of competition by winning a bronze medal in the 400m freestyle swimming event. She was later joined in success by Kate Douglass, Gretchen Walsh, Torri Huske, Simone Manuel, Erika Connolly, and Abbey Weitzel, who won the silver medal in the Women’s 4x100m freestyle swimming event. The first day of competitions concluded with Jack Alexj, Chris Guiliano, Hunter Armstrong, Caeleb Dressel, Ryan Held, and Matt King winning the first gold medal in the Men’s 4x100m freestyle swimming event.

  • Katie Ledecky won the gold in Women’s 1500m freestyle Swimming, breaking her own Olympic record from Tokyo with a time of 15:30.02.
  • Torri Huske secured the silver in Women’s 100m freestyle.

August 1

  • Kate Douglass won Gold in the Women’s 200m breaststroke.
  • Regan Smith won Silver in the Women’s 200m butterfly.
  • Erin Gemell, Katie Ledecky, Paige Madden, Simone Manuel, Anna Peplowski, Alex Shackell, Claire Weinstein won Silver in the Women’s 4x200m freestyle.

August 2:

  • Regan Smith won the silver in the Women’s 200m backstroke.

August 3

  • Kate Douglass won the silver medal in the Women’s 200m Individual Medley.
  • Katie Ledecky won the gold medal in the Women’s 800m freestyle.
  • Paige Madden won the bronze medal in the Women’s 800m freestyle.

The management of Team USA has every reason to feel proud of their team’s outstanding performance at the Paris Olympic Games. Once again, the world has witnessed the sheer dominance of the most successful swimming nation, with an impressive haul of 6 gold, 12 silver, and 7 bronze medals.

These results serve as a testament to the unwavering consistency and prowess of the American swimmers. As they look ahead to the 2028 LA Olympic Games, the stage is set for an even more spectacular display of skill and determination on home turf.

Katie Ledecky was the standout American swimmer at this year’s Games, clinching four medals. She secured gold in the 1500m freestyle and 800m freestyle events, contributed to a silver medal in the 4x200m freestyle relay with the American team, and also achieved a bronze medal in the 400m freestyle.
