The United States earned their ticket for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games soccer quarterfinals after beating Guinea by 3-0 in the Group’s A matchday three game.

The Americans’ start at the Games was rough after their 3-0 defeat against France on matchday one, but a 4-1 victory against New Zealand on matchday two sent the team back on track.

The stakes were high for this game since a draw or a loss against Mali would have (most likely) ended the United States’ Olympic dream. However, an electrifying free kick from Mihailovic gave the U.S. the advantage in the first 15 minutes of the game. The chances kept coming, and Paredes doubled the lead against Guinea and scored the game’s third goal. As a result, the U.S. qualified for the quarterfinals with 6 points.

Who does the U.S. play in the Olympic Games soccer quarterfinal?

Thanks to their 2-0 victory over Guinea, the United States qualified seconds in Group A and will face Group B leaders Morocco in the next Paris 2024 men’s soccer tournament round.

The African team faced Argentina, Ukraine, and Irak in Group B and won two of the three games they played. One of them was the controversial opening match against Argentina, in which the referee added 15 minutes, and the game ended more than an hour after the expected time.

The game will be played in Paris on Friday, August 2, with the kick-off scheduled for 9 a.m. E.T. The winner between Morocco and the U.S. will face the winner of the Spain-Japan quarterfinal game in Marseille.
