The PGA Championship got underway on Thursday at Southern Hills Country Club and Day 1 saw Rory McIlroy get off to a surprise good start, not something that he’s used to at recent majors. He carded a five-under 65 and took a lead into Friday’s session, standing out against the two other big names of his group, Tiger Woods and Jordan Spieth.

Day 2 proved to be smooth sailing for Will Zalatoris who took the second round lead after whipping winds in Tulsa left many major hopes in tatters. On a far from perfect day for golf Zalatoris took full advantage of improving conditions late in the round to return an error free five-under 65 to sit one clear of little known Chilean Mito Pereira with a midway total of nine-under 131.

Check out below how to follow all the action from the third round.

2022 PGA Championship build-up

There was a lot of buzz surrounding this competition as defending champion Phil Mickelson withdrew, while golf legend Tiger Woods confirmed his participation in his second major event since he was nearly killed in a horrible car crash early last year.

Woods first returned to competition at the 2022 Masters, where he was seen having some difficulty walking at the end of the course. He said he was “feeling stronger” before the PGA Championship, and viewers were looking forward to seeing how he would perform in Tulsa, especially as part of the group with McIlroy and Spieth.

Many other top golfers are taking part in the field of 155, including past winners of the tournament, Ryder Cup captains, and World Golf Hall of Famers. Among some of the early favorites to win are former world number ones Jon Rahm of Spain, the aforementioned McIlroy of Northern Ireland, and current number one Scottie Scheffler.

Here’s what you need to know so you don’t miss the competition.
