Will Tiger Woods play in the PGA Championship?
Tiger Woods is getting ready for his second major tournament after being seriously injured in a car crash last year, and he is feeling strong.
Woods is at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to participate in the 2022 PGA Championship.
Tiger Woods’ endurance challenged at Masters
He previously competed at the 2022 Masters at Augusta National Golf Club last month, where he ended the tournament 13-over.
The 46-year-old was visibly tired by the time he played all 72 holes, walking with difficulty off the course. Woods had previously said that all the walking needed at the Masters would be the biggest challenge he would face in the contest.
Tiger Woods. Stronger for the PGA Championship
The four-time PGA champion appeared more confident in Tulsa when he was going through a nine-hole practice round. “I’ve gotten a lot stronger since the Masters,” Woods said.
He acknowledged that he went through a hard time after that competition, but he now says that “everything is better.”
Woods’ caddie Joe LaCava agrees, saying he also sees a stronger golfer. “I just think the endurance is there now. I don’t think he’s getting quite as tired as quickly. I see more endurance than anything,” said LaCava.
The 15-time champion was hospitalized for months after the February 2021 crash, but only ten months later, he participated in the 2021 PNC Championship in Orlando with his son Charlie. They finished in second place and set a record for the longest birdie streak (11) in the history of the tournament.
The PGA Championship tees off on Thursday, May 19 at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and will run until Sunday, May 22.
