2022 US Open - Who plays today September 3? Match times for Nadal, Alcaraz, Norrie, Swiatek, Azarenka...

Rafael Nadal is back on court as US tennis adjusts to the post-Serena Williams era with former champions also on display on Day 6 at Flushing Meadows.

The Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York will be a strange place to be on Saturday as US tennis enters the post-Serena Williams era. The 23-times Grand Slam champion was knocked out of the tournament in the third round by Ajla Tomljanovic on Friday, bringing down the curtain on the most storied career in the women’s game (with a nod to Margaret Court of course, but the Australian all-time slam record holder competed in both the amateur and professional eras). The chance to see Rafael Nadal in action – the Spaniard’s longevity is also open to question – will go some way to lifting the gloom and his opponent Richard Gasquet will provide plenty of entertainment, the Frenchman possessing a wonderful array of shots.

World number 12 Coco Gauff has been anointed as the heir apparent to the Williams sisters and the 18-year-old reached the fourth round at the US Open for the first time after dispatching 2017 runner-up Madison Keys in straight sets on Friday. In action on Day 6 are US number one Jessica Pegula – Gauff’s doubles partner – and the in-form and ever-dangerous Danielle Collins, a finalist at the 2022 Australian Open, who takes on veteran Alizé Cornet - playing in a record 63rd consecutive Grand Slam at Flushing Meadows - in a rematch of their quarterfinal in Melbourne. Lauren Davis, currently ranked 98, has the unenviable task of facing world number one Iga Swiatek.

On the men’s side, Frances Tiafoe plays Diego Schwartzman for a place in the fourth round and Brandon Nakashima, who accounted for 17th seed Grigor Dimitrov in the second round, will look to continue his run against Jannik Sinner. Jenson Brooksby, who saw off Borna Coric in round two, goes up against another player with the heir apparent tag, Carlos Alcaraz.

Three Grand Slam winners are scheduled to start the day on Louis Armstrong, where Garbiñe Muguruza will play Petra Kvitova and Victoria Azarenka will take on Petra Martic.
