The US Open enters its decisive rounds on Tuesday with the start of the men’s and women’s singles quarterfinal matches.

With the defeat of Daniil Medvedev and Rafael Nadal, there will be a brand-new grand slam event champion in the men’s draw, as none of the quarterfinalists have ever won a major title. Controversial Nick Kyrgios will face Karen Khachanov in the evening session.

Casper Ruud of Norway will battle Matteo Berrettini not only in a quest for the grand slam event trophy but also in a campaign to become number one in the world. The exit of Medvedev and Nadal has given him and Carlos Alcaraz the chance to be catapulted to the top of the ATP rankings after the last major tournament of the year wraps up.
