Jon Rahm earns the bragging rights for his Tour as the rivalry between the LIV and PGA Tours played out for the first time at Augusta National. He also won the famous green jacket and $3.24 million dollars, becoming just the fourth Spaniard to do so, along with legends Seve Ballesteros, Jose Maria Olazabal, and Sergio Garcia.

In a Masters with different weather conditions, surprise cuts, withdrawals and veterans proving they still have game, there was a bit of everything for golf fans. The big news on Sunday morning was that Tiger Woods had to withdraw due to an injury. His plantar fasciitis injury in his right foot flared up again. The weather on Saturday, which was more reminiscent of a British Open, didn’t help him move around Augusta National and it was just too much for him.

The weather was a factor that made Augusta National play like two different courses. Choosing the right club was very complicated on Saturday as players were using three clubs more than the day before. On Sunday morning the damp course allowed players to take aim at the pins, but as the day progressed, the greens and fairways began to dry out and kept players on their toes with club selection.

Fred Couples, 63, and Phil Mickelson, 52, proved to the fans and their younger rivals that they still have game. Both players surpised the patrons with their excellent iron play and short games as their experience carried them around Augusta National. Couples ended up in 50th position and Mickelson finished in 2nd place at 7-under with an impressive 65 on Sunday.

Jon Rahm was able to take advantage of the conditions all three days and outlasted his rivals who tried to catch up on the last day. Rahm’s confidence and dominance of the course was just too much and allowed him to become member of a select group of players to win at Augusta National.
