2023 Miami Open finals: our pre-tournament lay of the land

Though the round of 32 has just come to a close, the field in the 2023 Miami Open is still very much stacked. There are of course the usual suspects still hanging around like the young Spaniard and World No. 1, Carlos Alcaraz, as well as Daniil Medvedev, Casper Ruud and the improving American, Tommy Paul. On the women’s side the young American, Coco Gauff continued her struggles as she was dismissed by Anastasia Potapova in the round of 32, while World No. 7 Elena Rybakina continued her good form in a victory over Spain’s Paula Badosa. In the all-American affair, World No. 3 Jessica Pegula bested her fellow countrywoman Danielle Collins to book her spot in the next round.
