2023 US Open: Who plays today August 30? Match times for Djokovic, Gauff, Swiatek...

The US Open Day 3 will feature some interesting games, with the WTA world No. 1 and current tournament champion Iga Swiatek returning to action.

Tuesday wasn’t an underdog day in the men’s category, as all the favorites made it to the next round, except for Karen Khachanov, who ended up losing his opening game to the American Michael Mmoh.

Veterans Andy Murray and Stan Wawrinka proved they still have plenty of tennis on their rackets, defeating Corentin Moutet and Yoshihito Nishioka, respectively.

One of the main favorites to the title, Jannik Sinner, comfortably defeated Yannick Hanfmann, while the current US Open champion Carlos Alcaraz was dominating Dominik Koepfer before the German player ended up retiring in the second set due to injury.

In the women’s category, Jessica Pegula was too strong for the dangerous Camila Giorgi, while the world No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka only lost five games in her game against Maryna Zanevska. The biggest upset of the day saw Lucia Bronzetti eliminating Barbora Krejcikova in straight sets.

US Open Day 3: Swiatek, Gauff and Djokovic’s turn

On the third day of the competition, Iga Swiatek and Novak Djokovic will return to the New York courts to face Daria Gavrilova and Bernabé Zapata Miralles.

The attention will also be on Cori Gauff. The American seems to be living her “breakthrough” moment and she is expected to go very far in the tournament. The Atlanta native will take on the 16-year-old rising star Mirra Andreeva in what is expected to be one of the most exciting matches of the day.

Both women have played only once, with Gauff getting the win at the 2023 French Open in three sets (6-7, 6-1, 6-1).

In other games today, Petra Kvitova will face Caroline Wozniacki, former US Open champion Dominic Thiem will battle it out with Ben Shelton and Danielle Collins will be looking to progress against the talented Elise Mertens.
