Eighty two-man teams will be taking part in the latest edition of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, which kicks off with round one today, Thursday 25 April 2024.

Who’s playing in the Zurich Classic of New Orleans?

The field will be without world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who followed up his Masters win with victory at the RBC Heritage on Monday, but No. 2 Rory McIlroy will be involved. The Northern Irishman, who will be making his debut at the event, is paired with Shane Lowry.

Winners at TPC Louisiana in 2022, world No. 5 Xander Schauffle and No. 8 Patrick Cantlay return for another tilt at the title, as do defending champions Nick Hardy and Davis Riley, who became the first ever duo to reach the 30-under par mark 12 months ago.

Zurich Classic of New Orleans, round one format

Today’s first round will be played in a four-ball format: both players on each team play their own ball from tee to hole, and the team’s score for each hole is the lower score of the two players.

This will also be the format for the Zurich Classic’s third round, held on Saturday.
