Piercy shot the best score of the field with a six-under par 65 on Thursday and his 64 on Friday was second best only to Englishman Callum Tarren’s eight-under 63. Tony Finau is in the mix with a group of five players who are at -7 going into the weekend.

Nine shots back is a group of six players including Cam Davis of Australia, who is looking for his second tour victory this week and Danny Willet, the 2016 Masters Tournament champion.

Piercy is dominating the field with strong iron play and exceptional putting. “Obviously it feels great. It’s been a little bit since I’ve played like I feel like I should play. To kind of prove it to myself again, I know it’s in there, it’s just like, okay, how do we get it out of me. There’s a lot of business to take care of this weekend, but to come out the first two days and do what I did gives me a lot of confidence going into the weekend,” he said Friday.

Other big names in 3M Open

Rickie Fowler, Brendon Todd, and Ryan Palmer will be teeing off Saturday at 8:56 a.m. after making the cut with even par after two days. Fowler and Todd struggled Friday, both shooting +1, while Ryan Palmer fought his way back with a -4.

3M Open: who missed the cut?

Vaughn Taylor missed the cut and won’t be playing on the weekend due to a total score of +3 with a 75 on Thursday and a 70 on Friday. Other big names missing the cut include Cameron Tringale and Sahith Theegala, who was expected to be at the top of the leaderboard after some strong outings recently.

Saturday’s action in Minnesota will begin at 6:50 a.m. ET as the tournament organizers will try to get play in before thunderstorms arrive in the area in the afternoon.
