Update:

Polish tennis star Iga Swiatek picked up her first Wimbledon title earlier this month, beating Amanda Anisimova in a rare 6-0, 6-0 ‘double bagel’ victory.

It was a statement win for Swiatek, but she may have had a secret weapon to thank for her Wimbledon dominance. Speaking at the tournament, she revealed that she has traded the traditional strawberries and cream for an unusual ‘strawberry pasta’ dish that had stunned some commentators.

This week she appeared on Andy Roddick’s ‘Served’ podcast and has asked about the recipe for her bizarre sweet-savory dish.

Roddick began by asking: “Congrats on winning Wimbledon, and maybe making this food choice mainstream... I had never heard of that combination, I was a little stunned.”

Swiatek replied: “It got kinda crazy. I don’t know how it happened, I wasn’t expecting that kind of reaction, you know."

She explained: “Basically you’ve gotta smash the strawberries, so they’re kinda juicy. Then they mix perfectly with the pasta, and the yogurt or cream. You should smash them as hard as possible, so everything’s mixed.”

“They’re gonna connect all the sensations, like a juicy strawberry jam,” the Wimbledon champions added.

Roddick admitted that he has still not tried the strawberry pasta but news of this recipe has made big headlines in the world of tennis. Swiatek, still only 24 years old, has racked up six Grand Slam titles and she has spent a total of 125 weeks at the top of the WTA world rankings. The strawberry pasta dish is clearly working.
