Berlanga’s prediction: what did he say about his boxing fight with Canelo?
The Brooklyn fighter will take on Alvarez in September and both men are holding nothing back when it comes to talking about each other.
In less than a month, Saul Alvarez and Edgar Berlanga will meet in the ring in a fight where both men have things to prove.
The Mexican superstar will put his super middleweight crown on the line against the hungry and confident Berlanga, who knows that a victory against the Guadalajara warrior would transform his life.
Both men have exchanged a few threatening comments during their pre-fight press events and interviews, with Canelo stating it will just be another day in the office and the New York native saying he never fought anyone like him.
Berlanga predicts his fight against Canelo
Alvarez recently revealed that the fight wouldn’t go the distance and that he would take Berlanga out within eight rounds, something the American didn’t like at all.
The Chosen One believes he carries the power and the talent to upset the favorite at T-Mobile Arena, in Vegas. And when asked about a prediction, he anticipated a shocking finish.
“I’m knocking him out in six rounds,” said Berlanga on Instagram about his fight against Canelo.
Berlanga’s motivation comes from being a heavy underdog, with almost nobody seemingly giving him a chance against Alvarez.
“I have always been underestimated. Even if I had a world title, I would be underestimated. When I turned pro, no promoter wanted to sign me. I had to dig deep and start knocking people out. And I started knocking people out in the first round, then people wanted to sign me”, he recently said during his pre-fight presser
Canelo last defeated fellow countryman Jaime Mungia via unanimous decision in May, while the undefeated Berlanga recorded a tKO win over Padraig McCrory last February.
