Canelo Álvarez’s priceless reaction after discovering Terence Crawford has seven children

The two boxing stars shared a lighthearted moment during a pre-fight interview, leaving Álvarez stunned by Crawford’s large family.

Update:

Canelo Álvarez faces Terence Crawford in Las Vegas on Saturday, September 13, in what is arguably the most highly anticipated fight of the year and already the third-highest-grossing event in boxing history.

Álvarez, 63-2-2, will defend his super-middleweight world titles, with the WBO, WBA, IBF, and WBC belts, as well as the Ring Magazine title, all on the line. For Crawford, 41-0, the bout at Allegiant Stadium represents an opportunity to become the first male fighter in the four-belt era to win an undisputed title in three weight classes.

A tense but civil pre-fight build-up

There will be little love lost between the two when the fight gets underway, although the pair sat down for a fairly civilized discussion with British TV broadcaster Piers Morgan in June as the fight build-up began.

The joint interview produced a few lighthearted moments, particularly when discussing their families.

Initially, Álvarez seemed somewhat unsure when asked about how many children he has, perhaps influenced by his wife being heavily pregnant at the time. Fernanda Gómez, whom the boxer married in May 2021, gave birth to the couple’s second child together in August. Álvarez also reportedly has three other children with three different women.

Crawford’s family surprises Álvarez

Morgan then turned his attention to Crawford, revealing the Nebraska native has seven children, which caught Álvarez completely off guard.

“Seven?! Oh my god,” reacted a shocked Álvarez, prompting laughter from both boxers.

And Crawford might not be done yet, revealing, “If God blesses me with another one, so be it.”

Fight time and broadcast details

The main card for Álvarez vs. Crawford in Las Vegas is expected to begin at 8:00 P.M. ET on Saturday, September 13, with main-event ring walks scheduled for approximately 11:00 P.M. ET.
