The ceremonial weigh-in for the boxing event took place at the T-Mobile Arena.

Ciudad de México Update:

Everything is set for the fight between Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez and Terence Crawford after both boxers cleared their first hurdle – the weigh-in, often a tricky moment for fighters who have to cut down for each bout.

What weights are Canelo and Crawford?

At the T-Mobile Arena, which has hosted many of Canelo’s biggest nights in Las Vegas, the ceremonial weigh-in saw each fighter on the main card step onto the scale to meet the sport’s protocol. Both headliners delivered as expected. Crawford was first, weighing in at 167.5 pounds, followed by Álvarez, who tipped the scale at exactly the same mark as cheers and jeers mixed across a divided crowd.

The fight is set at a limit of 168 pounds – super middleweight – a division where Álvarez has long reigned as undisputed champion. For Crawford, it represents a leap up two weight classes after campaigning at super welterweight.

The stage is now the Allegiant Stadium, home of the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders, which will host its first Canelo Álvarez fight. On the line are his WBC, WBA, WBO and IBF belts, along with The Ring title – considered the most prestigious of them all.

With the scales balanced and the drama ready, Las Vegas is braced for a true Mexican celebration on this September 13 – an early nod to Mexican Independence Day and a boxing spectacle fit for the legends.
