Carl Froch labels John Fury “a disgrace”

In a reaction on his popular YouTube channel, the former unified super middleweight champion calls John Fury’s actions “disgusting” and “a disgrace.”

Update:
Carl Froch labels John Fury “a disgrace”

In the wake of Monday’s chaos at the beginning of fight week in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia that saw the scion of the Fury clan, John Fury, headbutt a member of Oleksandr Usyk’s entourage, former unified super middleweight champion Carl Froch has waded into the fray.

On his popular YouTube channel Froch on Fighting, The Cobra opened up on the incident and didn’t hold any punches.

He wants to get involved, doesn’t he? He wants his little piece of the action. So he’s gone over, he’s not even having a push, he’s having a walk, having a look, picking his spot, typical big bully, isn’t he? He picks on the smallest guy in there and drop the nut on him. But guess what? Karma is a bitch! He came off the worse! He got a big cut on his head, all claret down his face. What an idiot!

Froch continued to say that Fury senior was “a disgrace. What he’s doing is bringing boxing into disrepute. It’s disgusting and terrible that people will be watching this fight, the biggest fight in years, and there will be young kids and people trying to get into the sport, and you’ve got John Fury, the big idiot, headbutting somebody from the other team.

“That is a blow actually that sends you straight to jail usually. Should be getting arrested. Should be getting done for assault. I don’t know what’s happening, but it’s all being swept under the carpet, and nobody’s calling it out.”

After the incident on Monday, John Fury issued an apology, saying that he had simply let his emotions ahead of such a big fight get the better of him. But Froch was having none of that, reminding Fury once again of his responsibility toward not only his family but also to the sport of boxing. “Be peaceful, be nice, be kind. But then you go and lower the standards and let yourself and your family down, and more importantly, you let boxing down. Absolutely disgraceful. You should be embarrased!”
