Eddie Hearn names Devin Haney’s possible three great opponents in 2024

Haney has become one of the most recognizable boxing faces after dismantling Regis Prograis and becoming champion at 140.

He was very criticized for his points victory against Vasiliy Lomachenko but he has closed the year in style winning another title in a different weight division. Devin Haney proved he’s determined to make history in the sport by defeating Regis Prograis last Saturday in his first fight at 140 in a boxing clinic that allowed him to capture The Rougaurou’s WBC light welterweight title.

The Dream (31-0, 15 KOs) suffered almost no damage during the fight against Prograis at Chase Center, in San Francisco, and that will make possible his return to the ring soon if there’s an agreement with another opponent.

Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn believes that the 25-year-old unbeaten fighter is ready to fight the best boxers at super lightweight and could eventually move up to the 147-pound division.

Devin Haney’s possible three big fights

2023 has been a great year for Haney, as he became the undisputed lightweight champion and has become a two-division champ by beating Prograis at 140.

However, 2024 could even be a better year for Haney, as he will now be able to choose his opponents due to his status and being undefeated, and they will likely be big names, something that will translate into lots of money and prestigious fights. According to Hearn, Ryan Garcia, Teofimo Lopez, and Gervonta Davis seem to be the chosen ones.

“The kid’s a consummate professional, he’s always fit and strong and well, and I think he’s got a really good chance to have three fights next year….three big championship fights, one in March or April, then one in June/July, and then one in November/December”, Hearn said to Fight Hype.

That’d be a great year for him. I think you have to say he is the Fighter of the Year. I think in 2024, he’s going to be right up there again. You know he’s going to be in big fights. You could see his year looking something like Ryan Garcia, Teofimo Lopez, Gervonta Davis”, he added.

Haney seems ready to take on that challenge, as he has always said he wants to fight the best boxers. Now it remains to be seen if the potential negotiations and the boxers’ interests will match and translate into agreements, which would be huge for boxing.
