Floyd Mayweather JR vs John Gotti III summary: round by round, main card, stats and highlights

Boxing legend Floyd “Money” Mayweather faced MMA fighter John Gotti III for the second time and was able to retain his perfect record once more.

Floyd Mayweather JR vs John Gotti III summary: round by round, main card, stats and highlights

Mayweather maintains his unblemished record, yet it lacks substance!

Floy Mayweather once again has retained his perfect record. The 47-year-old dominated John Gotti III during the eight-round exhibition match. The fight paled in comparison to the previous one, which ended in a street brawl. Despite Money's request for a new referee in the second round, Gotti's below-the-belt hit on Mayweather, and apparent insults, there was minimal action following the ref's change.

Mayweather attacked Gotti for the majority of the fight, and the Italian American was erratic and missed most of the punches he threw. In reality, the fight was a bore, and the crowd booed most of it. The PPV cost may not meet the expectations of the audience, particularly considering the outcome of the first fight.

There isn't much I can tell you guys, other than Gotti failed to hit Mayweather, he didn't go on the offense, and just like in most of these exhibition matches, Floyd took the fight to the terrain he wanted. I feel the fans are a bit unsatisfied with the performance tonight. This is particularly true after witnessing an impressive fight between Picasso and Azat prior to the main event. Let's hope the Tyson vs Paul exhibition bout is better than this one.

Andy Restrepo

Money vs Chavez?

IIs this too wild? The Mexican is 62 while Floyd is 47; it's a big age difference given that Chavez has been out of the ring for a very long time. But in this crazy world of boxing, where YouTube stars have become the sport's most popular names, anything can happen.

Andy Restrepo
Round 8

Mayweather vs Gotti III

Gotti starts to try to hit Mayweather but Money hits back and keeps pushing Gotti back to the corner and the ropes.

And that's it guys. Fight is over and not much to it really. It started interesting but in the end not much to it. A bit anticlimactic; Mayweather won this one.

Andy Restrepo
Round 7

Mayweather vs Gotti III

Gotti looks for Floyd's body with the left to the stomach. But again stops throwing punches. Mayweather seems to throw as twice as many punches.

The crowd boos as not much is going on the fight. It seems like Gotti III is already done physically as the round comes to and end. Based on the fight not sure who is the younger guy.

Andy Restrepo
Round 6

Mayweather vs Gotti III

The Italian American keeps on clinching to Floyd and tries to avoid an open fight. The crowd boos as there is no fight, no punches thrown really by part of Gotti mostly.

Andy Restrepo

Here the ref had to leave

This is the first I've seen in boxing where the Ref is changed midway.

Andy Restrepo
Round 5

Mayweather vs Gotti III

Floyd keeps throwing the left jab as Gotti defends. In general terms Floyd is winning this one on the cards as Gotti has barely thrown any punches on this fight.

Andy Restrepo
Round 4

Mayweather vs Gotti III

Floyd starts with some lefts and connects with Gotti a bit but not too much. It is Mayweather who goes on the offense and is trying to hit Gotti.

Not much to this round as both dance a bit and Gotti keeps clinching to Mayweather.

Andy Restrepo
Round 3

Mayweather vs Gotti III

The third round starts and Mayweather hits Gotti with everything and has him against the ropes. Guys this is a strange fight where Gotti just didn't even move from the ropes.

Now Gotti clinches Mayweather only to insult him. And the round is over.

Andy Restrepo

The fight is stopped

At the moment Mayweather doesn't want to fight he claims that Gotti keeps hitting him underneath the belt.

Andy Restrepo
Round 2

Mayweather vs Gotti III

Gotti starts to throw some lefts here and there but they don't land. Theres a bit of an issue as Money does't like for the Italian to hit him underneath the belt. And the fight is getting heated and Mayweather doesn't want to fight. And the fight is stopped.

And here we go again. The fight has taken a turn to be like a street fight. Not really sure what Mayweather is claiming that he doesn't like.

Andy Restrepo
Round 1

Mayweather vs Gotti III

Here we go! Gotti comes out with a strange stance with the left hand to try to keep Money away from him. Both fighters are dancing on the ring at the moment.

Gotti has. No intention to go against Mayweather at the moment as Floyd starts to clinch already.

End of a weird round one where the ref told Floyd to stop trying to clinch and keep his arms up.

Andy Restrepo

Money with the poncho

If anyone knows how to make an entrance is Floyd, look at that Mexican pocho all ready for this fight,

Andy Restrepo

Gotti III is ready for this

No Mayweather yet on the ring but John is waiting. It seems Money is about come out with a Mexican poncho.

Andy Restrepo

And Picasso takes this one.

This last fight was not an exhibition one and it does count for tittle fights. So watch out for Picasso out there as he now has a name to himself

Andy Restrepo
Round 12

Picasso vs Azat

Picasso for the win here. He will try to defend on this one. Azat doesn't seem to have the reserve on the tank to win this one. If all goes well the Mexican will win this one.

Body puches by Azat but Picasso seems to gold and has the whole crowd on his side. Azat goes wild but the fight ends and is clear who will win,

Andy Restrepo
Round 11

Picasso vs Azat

Alright let's see if Azat can land a wild Hail Mary over here and win this. Picasso keeps clinching as he tries to run down the clock. Azat is gassed and doesn't seem as if he can land that one punch to have him be the victor.

Las round to go .

Andy Restrepo
Round 10

Picasso vs Azat

Both fighters are done physically. The Armenian looks a bit better but he finally seems tired. The problem for the European is that Picasso is clinching as to avoid getting hit hard.

Not much on this round. Not much time for Azat to win this one.

Andy Restrepo
Round 9

Picasso vs Azat

The Armenian looks for the body of the Mexican as both fighters clinch to each other. The fight has loss some speed and intensity.

It seems the Armenian is reserving some energy for the last round as he might look to try to get a KO.

The round ends with Picasso on the ropes but with Azat having a hard time to land punches.

Andy Restrepo
Round 8

Picasso vs Azat

Picasso hits Azat straight to the face and the knees felt it. But can't bring him down. The European is a rock, he takes and takes hits, but won't go down and his stamina is up top. If this man had a defense he would be World champ.

The Armenian starts to clinch, he looks to be looking for that KO punch as the round comes to an end.

Andy Restrepo
Round 7

Picasso vs Azat

The Armenian can't defend. His stamina seems better and he attacks but has no guard. Every time that Picasso throws a punch it lands.

Uhh nice right by Azat to the face of Picasso and if he gets another like that he might go down. He was completely off guard. The Mexican looks tired even tho he land every punch.

Andy Restrepo
Round 6

Picasso vs Ortiz

The Armenian seems to be wanting to even things out. He has one point less and has lota couple of the rounds.

Picasso starts to try to clinch, he seems to be getting a bit tired. But he keeps landing. Azat has very little defense.

Another right from Picasso to the face of Azat that has his right side of the face all swollen. The round ends and Picasso wins this one but he needs to be careful, he is looking a bit tired.

Andy Restrepo
Round 5

The Armenian hits Picasso straight on his private parts and the Mexican is on the corner having to breathe. Come on the ref has to take a point of.

If the European does it again he will be disqualified. Picasso another left to the face and the Armenian felt it. But he doesn't go down. The Mexican is going to have to hit im with a truck to bring him down.

Andy Restrepo
Round 4

Picasso vs Azat

The ref again calls the attention of Azat and the crowd starts to boo. The European tries to go for the stomach as he throws the jab later.

Picasso lands anther right to the face of Picasso but can't capitalize on it. And the Armenian delivers a left straight to the ear of Picasso. The Mexican is letting up. He is not having the same speed as he started in the beginning as the fourth round ends.

Andy Restrepo
Round 3

Picasso vs Azat

Oh the Armenian takes Picasso to the ropes and he can take him down!!! He got tired and Picasso did amazing at avoiding the punches. But it was a good moment for the European.

Azat brings the head down and up and the ref calls him out for trying to head the Mexican.

Nice left hook by Picasso to drive the Armenian back. And the ref again tells Azat to pick up his hands as he tries to hit too low. The Mexican ends with a hook on the face as the bell rings and the Armenian didn't like that.

Andy Restrepo
Round 2

Picasso vs Azat

Azat throws a good combination of right and lefts as he keeps looking for the body. But Picasso takes Azat to the ropes on a counter. The Mexican is not going to let the Armenian lead the fight.

Picasso seems more effective as the rounds ends. He is dictating the tempo of the fight and for me is 2-0 to the Mexican.

Andy Restrepo
Round 1

Picasso vs Azat

Aright here we go!!

The fight starts really fun with Picasso going for the body shots as Azat runs around the ring. The Armenian looks bigger in size but Picasso has the length on this one.

Nice right hand to the stomach by Azat as Picasso has to go back. Another hit to the stomach by the Armenian.

Picasso lands a nice right to the face of Azat but no damage done as the round ends.

Andy Restrepo

The most exciting part of the Ortiz fight

This was the best part of this fight. I kid you not. This moment was the most fun.

Andy Restrepo

Last fight before the main event.

This one should be a real fight as they are actually fighting for world titles over here. Picasso vs Azat should be better than the Ortiz fight we just witnessed.

Andy Restrepo

Who remembers this one?

Floyd is a hitter. Many people always talk about how Money is all about the defense but he knows how to hit when he needs to

Andy Restrepo

"Chavez is a very old man"

Floyd is making it clear that a fight with Julio Cesar is absurd as he is very old for him. And he doesn't want to take advantage of an old guy.

Andy Restrepo

AD is in the house people

Olympic gold winner AD is in the house and ready to see the fight between Money and Gotti III.

Andy Restrepo

Not a very in shape Ortiz

This was the whole fight. Not a very in shape Ortiz gets up there but unfortunately it was a big of a bore.

Andy Restrepo
Round 8

Ortiz vs Coria

I smell a tie among both fighters. Even while the last round not much to go on guys.

Andy Restrepo
Round 7

Ortiz vs Coria

The sparring continues as both fighters are looking for this to be over a cash their checks.

Andy Restrepo
Round 5

Ortiz vs Coria

I wasn't even aware that the round was over. None of the guys really wants to be in pain in this fight. They are throwing while punches out here just to see of they get KO.

Andy Restrepo
Round 4

Ortiz vs Coria

Not much on this one either. Not sure if watching boxing or some boring golf thing. I need three cups of coffee I'm falling asleep. None of the fighters can land any meaningful punches.

Andy Restrepo
Round 3

Ortiz vs Coria

The fight continues on the some tone. Ortiz tries to take fight to Coria, but the punches don't land. You can hear the whistles on the stands as the fight is a bore for the fans at tan estadium.

Andy Restrepo
Round 2

Ortiz vs Coria

Ortiz comes up on the second wanting to hit the body of Coria. He doesn't have the speed of years pass but he tries to land the boys shots and tries to the fight to Coria.

Coria seems a bit swollen in the face as he took a couple of jabs by Ortiz who doesn't seem very in shape for this fight.

Andy Restrepo
Round 1

Ortiz vs Coria

The first round starts as both fighters seem to study themselves and see what they each offer. Ortiz seems a bit more in shape than Coria.

Not much on this first round as they both are just waiting to see what the other guy is bringing, We get ready for the second round,

Andy Restrepo

Here comes Victor Ortiz fight

The 37 year old is making his way to the ring now. And I'll be making the round by round of this fight. You won't want to miss this one guys!

Andy Restrepo

Is he the next star of boxing?

What do guy think? This fight was insane and he is only 18 years old anything can happen. Don't move because Victor Orti fight is coming up!

Andy Restrepo

Who wants to see Moton dominate?

I'll just say 55 seconds, that's all that took. As with these exhibitions fights go, this kid is on his prime trained and here comes Víctor Vázquez who hasn't trained since 2018 and this is what happens.

Andy Restrepo

Courmel Moton wins within 55 seconds

The 18 year old gave Vasquez two rights and a left and done deal. The ref called as there was nothing to do here.

Andy Restrepo
Round 1

Moton vs Vazquez

Moton starts strong with a knock on the first 10 seconds!!! And down goes Vazquez and is done!! The fight is over before it even started wow! Can't say much than Mike Tyson vibes!

Andy Restrepo

Fair or no by Floyd?

Do you guys think that Money did Victor Ortiz dirty with this fight or was he justified? Man Ortiz had just headed this man, he got what he deserve.

Andy Restrepo

Guess who is next?

Yeah Moton is about to make the stage and this one shapes to be the best fight of the main card so far. I'll be doing a round by round for this one guys.

Andy Restrepo

So Vaca takes this one

Not much on this one. But Vaca takes the fight as Victor Ortiz is going to make the stage.

Andy Restrepo

Did Oscar deserve better?

I always thought this fight was closer that one might think. For me Oscar deserved more and who is to say he could have won it, what are you guys thoughts on this?

Andy Restrepo

Rodriguez vs Vaca

The night is getting red hot. This one is a good fight. The bout is slightly going to Rodriguez for the moment but Vaca is not letting up. These guys know they have to make their name be known tonight.

Andy Restrepo

Julio are you checking out Floyd?

Julio is here giving the vibes. Hey with some good training why can't the Mexican get on the ring and show Money some of that Azteca power?

Andy Restrepo

Alright serious thoughts about this ?

What are wee thinking peeps? A win or an L? Not sure what it is suppose to be really.

Andy Restrepo

How will Victor do tonight?

This is not only an important night for Gotti and Money but also for a comeback. Victor Ortiz is still around and we want to see how he is doing. Will he give a good bout?

Andy Restrepo

Mayweather's golden boy getting ready

Who wants to see this kid fight tonight? Where do you guys think he will finish at the end of his career? Is he going to be one of the greatest?

Andy Restrepo

More of the beating Artiga got

El Pollo did not see Aaron coming. What combinations by the Mexican. The ref took a bit calling this one in my opinion, it was clear Artiga was not up to par.

Andy Restrepo

Marco Verde and Floyd?

Floyd might be looking to sign the kid who got the silver medal at the Olympics for Mexico. So watch out in the future if you see Marco Verde. By the way Rodriguez and Vaca coming up in a sec you won't want to miss it.

Andy Restrepo

Poor Artiga took a beating

The ref had to step in and break the fight between Aaron Rodriguez and Alberto Artiga. The replacement for the main fight was not up to the standard and received a proper beating. Good fight for what is about to come later in the night.

Andy Restrepo

Aaron Rodriguez vs Artiga

El Pollo Artiga stepped in for Alfonso Flórez and is taking a beating by Aaron Silva who seems in top shape.

Andy Restrepo

It runs in the family

The Money's grandson wants to follow the family business it seems. Like dad, like son and like grandson, the Mayweather's are a legacy.

Andy Restrepo

If the NBA is not a thing

For the AntMan if the NBA is nog going to pan out then boxing might his thing.

Andy Restrepo

Cecilia Rodriguez vs Arienn Sanchez

Alright the first bout is about to be called and Cecilia Rodriguez wins this one by decision. First fight done and we keep going. We'll keep bringing you the best action of the night.

Andy Restrepo

Tyson vs Floyd?

As an exhibition anything can happen, who cares about weight clases, I'm sure for the right money it could happen. It would be super interesting to see.

Andy Restrepo

Perfect timing

Everything is set for the night and here weeeee go guys!! The first fight of the night will be on the female side. With Cecilia Rodriguez vs Arlenn Sanchez. The arena is already filling up and this guy here will bring you the result of how this fight ends and anything that is worth while to mention from the night that will be watching tonight.

Andy Restrepo

30 minutes to go!

In just 30 minutes the fight of the year is set to take place. All the players are ready and we hope is a grea tight of boxing for everyone.

Andy Restrepo

Mayweather vs Chavez?

Would you like to see a Money vs Julio Cesa Chavez fight? One of the greatest against the GOAT? If only the Mexican was a bit younger. The fight we lost. Who would you have wanted to see Floyd fight?

Andy Restrepo

These are the top PPV fights in history

So of these fights which one was your favorite to see? Which one did you like the most? For me that Canelo fight is everything.

Andy Restrepo

Look at that fight card

You won't want to miss any of these fights tonight folks. Get your popcorn ready and get the sandwiches ready.

Andy Restrepo

Mexico lindo y querido!

What is it with Mexico and boxing?? The love of the country for the sport is crazy and having this exhibition here is the cherry on top. You won't want to miss it.

Andy Restrepo

Big words by John Gotti III

Like I mentioned before this is a fight that promises some sparks to fly. If anyone think this is one of those exhibition matches where everything is said and done, I'm not so sure guys. Gotti really doesn't seem to like Money at all.

Andy Restrepo

Wherever you are don't miss it.

These are you times and you won't want to miss it. Check your country and get the chips ready for the fight of the year aside from that Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul fight.

Andy Restrepo

Money's record is nothing but impressive

One could argue his style but the truth is that Mayweather has fought some of the best in the world and won not by a hair but won by being the best. Although, for this commentator I would have loves to see him fight Pac Man a bit sooner in their careers.

Andy Restrepo

Main card for the night

You won't to miss this night hopefully we will be able to finish this one and not end on the six like the last time that Money and Gotti met. But the other fights of the night promise to be just as good.

Andy Restrepo

Expect a night of high-energy boxing, with Mayweather’s defensive skills and Gotti’s aggressive style likely to create an intense atmosphere. The undercard fights also promise to deliver some thrilling action, especially with fighters like Alan David Picasso and Curmel Moton looking to make a statement.
