Government of Jalisco to give away tickets to the Canelo Álvarez fight
Jalisco governor Enrique Alfaro announced that his office will give away 10,000 seats to people with limited resources, students and sick children.
The governor of the state of Jalisco, Enrique Alfaro, reported that his government will give away tickets to the fight that will feature Canelo Álvarez on May 6, in Guadalajara.
The state president explained that the seats for the fight that his government acquires will be donated to low-income people and students.
“What the Government of Jalisco is going to do is define a number of tickets that we want to distribute free to people who could never see a Canelo fight, we want to give tickets to our sports academies, to our boxing academies, to girls and boys with cancer, girls and boys with diabetes,” he explained.
Not a fight promoter
Alfaro clarified that his government is not a “promoter” nor does it interfere in the organization of the Canelo fight. He said that they will seek to give away around 10,000 tickets.
“I estimate that there would be around 10,000 people who would go for free to see an idol as important as Canelo. And together with Saúl, we can define the mechanism with which these tickets can be distributed, but there is no participation on the part of the Government of Jalisco in the promoting company, nor we are not paying anything for Canelo to come,” he pointed.
And he added, “It is a fight with private promoters... we are going to see how many tickets we can buy to give them to people who do not have resources and who want to see a character like Saúl here in his home.”
