How much did Carlos Alcaraz earn by lifting the Indian Wells title?

The world No. 2 defeated Daniil Medvedev in the final once again at ‘Tennis Paradise’, one of his favorite tournaments.

Carlos Alcaraz did t again. The 20-year-old star lifted the Indian Wells trophy after winning it for the first time in 2023.

The winner of 13 ATP titles, including five Masters 1000 events, defeated the same opponent he faced one year ago, Daniil Medvedev, and he also did it in straight sets, although it was closer this time.

Alcaraz started the game with the back foot, as Meddy got a 0-3 lead in the opening set, but the Murcia native didn’t get discouraged and managed to force the tiebreak, where he outplayed the Russian in the most important points.

In the second set, probably boosted by how things went in the first one, the two-time major champion paved his way to another victory at Tennis Paradise, giving Medvedev almost no chances by closing it 6-1.

“After every match, I was feeling better. I was getting more confident after every match. Winning a Master 1000 again, a really important tournament to win, gives you motivation to keep going”, Alcaraz said after the game.

Alcaraz’s money prize as Indian Wells champion

Alcaraz, who had previously defeated Jannik Sinner in the semifinals, won his first title since Wimbledon. He was the more aggressive player in the final, hitting 25 winners, with 26 unforced errors, while Medvedev had 11 winners and 23 unforced errors.

It’s definitely your court, you like it here. Hopefully, you can one day let me play a little bit better here”, Medvedev said during the trophies ceremony.

The Spaniard recorded another prestigious win in his career, but he also took home an important amount of money. He earned $1.1 million by becoming the Indian Wells champion, which is less than the $1.26 million he received in 2023. The reason for that is this year more prize money was allocated to the earlier rounds, reducing the winner’s prize money by nearly 13%. Medvedev earned $585,000.
