Believe it or not, the bag for this year’s FedEx Cup has actually increased from what was already a mouthwatering amount.

The FedEx Cup is a big payday

Though it’s not nearly the most prestigious tournament on the PGA’s calendar, the FedEx Cup is most definitely one of the most lucrative that the tour has to offer. Indeed, alongside the shiny trophy, the top 30 players in this year’s edition can expect the largest cash prize in the tournament’s history. How much are we talking? We’re talking record setting money here, but let’s break it down together as we take a look at the FedEx Cup’s purse for 2022.

The FedEx Cup winner will get a record-setting paycheck

When looking at the kinds of figures that LIV Golf has been offering players to join their tour - nine-digits to be precise - it could be said that it was only a matter of time before the PGA had to follow suit if it hoped to stay relevant, which of course brings us to the FedEx Cup. The winner of this year’s edition will take home a head turning $18 million, which is in fact the largest payout for a single event in golf’s long history. If you’re wondering where that stands relative to last year’s FedEx Cup, it’s a $3 million increase on the $15 million that 2021′s winner Patrick Cantlay took home.

Interestingly, it won’t just be the winner who walks away with a whole lot of ‘Bejamins’ either. With the PGA spreading the wealth around in what is to be a $75 million purse, the top four players in the final FedEx Cup standings will all take home at least $4 million. To give you a bit of perspective, the biggest payout to a winner for the season so far was the $3.6 million that Cameron Smith took home at the Players Championship. For a breakdown of what it looks like just take a look at our table below which highlights the earnings of the top 10.
