Excitement is sky high as WrestleMania XL celebrating four decades of WWE kicks off this weekend in Philadelphia.
WrestleMania XL will be the 40th annual WrestleMania event and is set to take place as a two-night spectacular on 6/7 April, (2024) in Philadelphia.
For four decades, WrestleMania has delivered joy to countless generations of WWE fans and is one of the biggest wrestling promotions in the world generating a multi-million dollar business and creating a legion of household names in the stars that have graced the ring from Hulk Hogan, John Cena to the likes of Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins.
Since the first event back in 1985, WrestleMania was conceived of as a Pay Per View and boy has it succeeded in that area. Forbes currently ranks WrestleMania as the sixth-most valuable event franchise in the world.
Worldwide, the revenue generated by WrestleMania is double the World Series, nearly that of the Winter Olympics and Kentucky Derby, and even tops the UEFA Champions League by nearly $80 million.
How much do WWE Wrestlers get paid?
According to sources, the highest WWE salary for a WWE main roster superstar is 12 Million and belongs to the Current WWE Universal Champion, Brock Lesnar. The lowest salary, on the other hand, is $250,000.
Following Lesnar, 16-time World Champion John Cena earns an enormous paycheck, even though he’s part-time in WWE. Cena makes $8.5 million per year, and similar to Lesnar, he also takes home $500,000 per main-event appearance in addition to the 5% he earns from his merchandise sales.
