Why is it called the RBC Heritage?

The tournament is known as the RBC Heritage because it is sponsored by Real Bank of Canada, known as RBC.

The tournament was originally known as the Heritage Classic or simply The Heritage.

What is Heritage plaid?

The plaid, or tartan, associated with the RBC Heritage, was adopted a fews years after the tournament was founded. The organisers denied to pay homage to a famous print of Sir William Innes, the captain of the Society of Golfers at Blackheath in Scotland, in which he wears a tartan jacket in Royal Stewart tartan.

By removing a yellow stripe from the Royal Stewart the RBC Heritage created it’s own unique tartan which is now used both for the winner’s plaid jacket, and a whole host of merch and other items connected with the tournament. Next up for the PGA Tour is a trip to Avondale, LA, for the Zurich Classic of New Orleans which takes place from 25-28 April.
