How much prize money did Scottie Scheffler win at the 2024 Tour Championship?
World No.1 Scheffler is the 2024 FedEx Cup champion and takes the biggest financial prize in the history of golf.
Scottie Scheffler has been well clear at the top of the world rankings and the FedEx Cup standings for almost the entirety of the 2024 PGA Tour season, which made him a fitting winner of the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, which also crowned the FedEx Cup champion.
The odds were stacked in the 28-year-old’s favour before a ball was struck in Georgia. By virtue of his position at the top of the FedEx Cup standings, he was given a two-shot head start over nearest challenger Xander Schauffele, and began round one 10 better off than those who entered the tournament ranked 26th to 30th.
Morikawa goes lowest in the 2024 Tour Championship
And Scheffler was able to close out the victory in fairly convincing fashion, finishing four shots ahead of second-placed Collin Morikawa.
Howver, had the Tour Championship been a “normal” stroke play event (i.e. every player started at even par on Thursday), the world No. 1 would have finished third on -18, with Morikawa winning on -20 and Sahith Theegala second on -19.
The numbers behind Scheffler’s incredible 2024 season
As it is, Scheffler has another victory in another incredible season. In 2024 (to date), the New Jersey native has taken part in 19 tournaments, seven of which he has won, including the Masters (and not counting an Olympic gold medal).
He has made the cut in every single event, posted 17 top-25 finishes and 16 top 10s. By far and away his worst performance of the year came in the 2024 US Open, when he finished in a tie for 41st.
Scheffler’s FedEx Cup and 2024 earnings
Scheffer has now also scooped up the biggest financial reward in the history of golf, pocketing an eye-watering $25 million for winning the Tour Championship and, as a consequence, taking the FedEx Cup bonus.
That means the two-time major winner has earned over $54.2 million on the course this season alone.
Now the FedEx Cup has been decided, there are eight FedEx Cup fall tournaments, which are similar to regular season events. The first one is the Procore Championship at Silverado Country Club in California, which starts on Thursday, September 12. The last event one in the series is the RSM Classic at Sea Island Golf Club in Georgia, which gets underway on Thursday, 21 November.
