How much prize money did Shane Lowry and Rory Mcllroy win at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans?
The Irish golfer Shane Lowry and N. Irland’s Rory McIlroy went to the playoff round and won as a team at the Zurich Classic of N. Orleans golf tournament.
Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry won the team event at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans on Sunday by beating Chad Ramey and Martin Trainer in a playoff with a par on the first hole. Trainer missed a 6-foot par putt to the right of the cup to end the game. McIlroy, who was playing in the event for the first time, won his 25th PGA Tour title and first of the season, while Lowry claimed his third PGA Tour victory.
The Irish team finished with a 4-under 68 in the alternate-shot final round to match Ramey and Trainer at 25-under 263. Lowry narrowly missed his mark twice on the playoff hole, putting an approach in a bunker and then leaving a birdie putt for the victory on the edge of the cup. However, Lowry redeemed himself on the 18th, forcing the playoff with a short birdie putt on the par-5 hole, capitalizing on McIlroy’s deft lofted chip from the apron that stopped close to the pin.
The teams split the prize money and FedExCup points in an every-two-spot manner. For instance, McIlroy and Lowry divided the first- and second-place prize money, which equaled $1,286,050 each. They also collected 400 FedExCup points each.
