Update:

One of the most highly anticipated weeks in golf is upon us, with the 2026 Masters taking place April 9-12 at Augusta National in Georgia.

This year’s tournament has a tough act to follow, with the 2025 edition going down as one of the most memorable in recent years. Despite threatening to throw victory away on numerous occasions, Rory McIlroy finally won his first Masters, completing the career Grand Slam in the process.

McIlroy and Scheffler headline Augusta field again

McIlroy is again among the favorites to win this year, as is world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler after shooting 65 on Saturday and already having won twice at Augusta. Close behind on Sunday are Cam Young, Shane Lowry, Sam Burns and Jason Day.

Masters prize money announced

Prize money for the 2026 Masters has been officially announced and the figures are as impressive as the course itself.

The financial incentives on offer have increased steadily in recent years, with a record $22.5 million prize purse for the 2026 tournament.

Record-breaking winnings in 2026

The 2026 winner will take home the first prize of $4.5 million, the most of any winner in the tournament’s history. That is $900,000 more than 2024 champion Scheffler.

  • 2026 winner’s prize money: $4.5 million
  • 2025 winner’s prize money: $4.2 million (Rory McIlroy)
  • 2024 winner’s prize money: $3.6 million (Scottie Scheffler)
  • 2023 winner’s prize money: $3.24 million (Jon Rahm)
  • 2022 winner’s prize money: $2.7 million (Scottie Scheffler)
  • 2021 winner’s prize money: $2.07 million (Hideki Matsuyama)
  • 2020 winner’s prize money: $1.8 million (Dustin Johnson)
