The 2023 Memorial Tournament is one of the most reputable events on the PGA Tour calendar. This year’s edition will get started on June 1 and finish on Sunday, June 4. It will be hosted by golf legend Jack Nicklaus at his own Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio.

The Tournament attracts some of the best players in the world, including the likes of Scottie Scheffler and Justin Thomas, who have both already accepted the invitation to compete for the title.

Other stars who have already accepted the invitation to the event are the defending champion, Billy Horschel, and American prospect Cameron Young.

How much prize money is on the line at the Memorial Tournament?

The purse being offered at the Memorial Tournament is $20 million, with the winner’s share at $3.6 million. This ranks the Memorial Tournament in the top six highest purses out of 47 official PGA Tour tournaments, all with different prize money.

The biggest winner’s share for the 2022-23 PGA Tour season was $4.5 million at The Players Championship.

The 2023 Memorial Tournament marks the 48th edition of the event founded by Nicklaus in 1976 and serves as a way to honor the legends of golf. Every year at the tournament, a different honoree is selected and celebrated.

Who will be celebrated at the 2023 Memorial Tournament?

Larry Nelson, who has been a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame since 2006, will be the honoree for this year’s tournament.

The 75-year-old from Alabama has won 10 PGA Tour Tournaments, three Majors, and the US Open (1983), in addition to the PGA Championship twice (1981 and 1987).
