After nearly six decades, the PGA Tour is venturing back to Utah, introducing the Black Desert Championship as part of the FedEx Cup Fall stage. Scheduled for October 10th to 13th at the picturesque Black Desert Resort in Ivins, Utah, this event marks its debut this year.

Black Desert Resort is set to make history by joining the ranks of renowned golf sanctuaries like Pebble Beach and Tiburon. Upon its debut, the resort will host both a PGA Tour FedEx Cup event and an LPGA tournament, with the idea of quickly establishing itself as one of the most esteemed golf destinations in the nation. With its stunning landscape and exceptional design, Black Desert Resort will surely attract avid golfers and spectators.

Keith Mitchell is currently the favorite to win, with the best odds at +1600. The highest-ranked player in the field is World No. 41 Chris Kirk, who is aiming for his seventh PGA Tour win, his first since winning The Sentry in January. Other noteworthy competitors include Lucas Glover, Kurt Kitayama, Seamus Power, Nick Taylor and Beau Hossler

2024 Black Desert Championship: prize money

The tournament offers a prize of $7.5 million, with the winner taking home $1.35 million and the runner-up receiving $817,500. Additionally, every player finishing in the top 19 is set to earn a six-figure sum.

During the FedEx Cup Fall events, players compete for places in the top 125 of the FedEx Cup standings, which will secure them full PGA Tour cards for the 2025 season after the conclusion of eight events.

For players who have already secured their cards, there is the Aon Next 10—the top 10 players on the FedExCup Points List who are not yet eligible for the signature events. At the end of the FedEx Fall, these players will gain spots in the lucrative 2025 signature events, the Pebble Beach Pro-Am and the Genesis Invitational.
