Manny Pacquiao reveals the unexpected Hollywood actor he chose to play him in a biopic
The ‘Pacman’ biopic project appears to be in the early stages with no official release date yet but the boxer has revealed who he wants to play him.
Despite precise information relating to the project currently being at a premium, it appears that a Manny Pacquiao biopic is in the works.
With no official release date yet it was reported that Pacquiao even suggested that his son, who has some acting experience, could potentially play him in the film before deciding that Mark Wahlberg is set to be involved in a major way. Pacquiao has publicly expressed that he wants Wahlberg to star as the Filipino fighter and produce the film, citing their friendship and Wahlberg’s familiarity with his life story.
Pacquiao stated that Wahlberg has often watched his training camps and knows much of his life story. Pacquiao also mentioned that his son, Jimuel, who is an actor in the Philippines, could potentially play a younger version of him.
Previously, Jericho Rosales played Manny Pacquiao in the 2006 film Pacquiao: The Movie, and Buboy Villar portrayed a young Manny in the 2015 film Kid Kulafu.
Return to the ring
Pacquiao is set to return to the ring this weekend after being inactive for five years due to the legendary Filipino fighter pursuing a political career. The World Boxing Council has given him an opportunity to fight for a World Championship against the Mexican Mario Barrios (29-2-1, 18 KOs), who, with age on his side is heavily fancied to beat ‘Pacman’ in Las Vegas.
