New Year’s Day ski jumping: How to watch the Four Hills Tournament on TV and stream online
Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Germany is the setting for the world’s most famous ski jumping event on New Year’s Day.
Winter sports, ski jumping included, may not be as high profile as the NBA, NFL or soccer in the United States, or indeed other parts of the world, but it is well worth making some time on New Year’s Day to watch the Four Hills Tournament, one of the most spectacular events on the sporting calendar.
The ski jumping competition has been running since 1953 and is one of the highlights of the year when it comes to winter sports. Normally held either side of New Year, the world’s top professionals are currently taking part in the eight-day tournament, which is held in Oberstdorf and Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Germany, as well as Innsbruck and Bischofshofen in Austria.
The 2023-24 edition got underway on Thursday 28 December and runs until Saturday 6 January, although the New Year’s Day jumps garner the most attention.
