Oregon World Athletics Championships 2022: How many disciplines are there?

The World Athletics Championships are heading to the U.S. for the first time ever where the best track and field athletes in the world come together.

The historic Hayward Field at the University of Oregon will be hosting the first-ever World Athletics Outdoor Championships in the U.S. between 15-24 July. This high-profile event is there to crown the world champions in all the different athletics disciplines.

Representing the pinnacle of achievement for athletes, track and field fans around the world prepare to watch the world’s best go at it in their respective events. More than 1900 athletes from 192 countries will be in action as 37 individual winners from the 2019 championships in Doha make their way back to defend their titles this year, and 42 individual gold medalists from the Tokyo Olympics also seek more global recognition.

In the women’s events, the likes of Sydney McLaughlin, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Elaine Thompson-Herah, Shericka Jackson, Abby Steiner, Dina Asher-Smith, Athing Mu, Faith Kipyegon, and Valarie Allman seek to be crowned.

And among the featured men going after world titles are Noah Lyles, Fred Kerley, Erriyon Knighton, Michael Norman, Steven Gardiner, Jakob Ingebrigtsen, Ryan Crouser, Armand Duplantis, Grant Holloway, and Hansle Parchment, in addition to many others.

How many disciplines are at the World Athletic Championships?
